On July 16th, Lin Wu, secretary of the Shanxi Provincial Party Committee, held a working meeting with Liu Xiucai, chairman of Cathay Biotech, and other entrepreneurs, and carefully listened to the reports on the enterprises’ development and the construction status of key projects in Shanxi. The Deputy Secretary of the Shanxi Provincial Party Committee, Governor Lan Fo’an, and the provincial leaders Luo Qingyu (罗清宇), Li Fengqi (李凤岐) and Wang Yixin (王一新) also attended the meeting.

On behalf of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government, Lin Wu welcomed Liu Xiucai and other entrepreneurs to invest in Shanxi and briefly introduced the measures and the achievements of the co-ordination of the epidemic prevention and control, local economic and social development, and the promotion of comprehensive high-quality development.

In the last three years, China’s President Xi Jinping has inspected the province of Shanxi twice. The whole province always adheres to the direction of transformation and development, vigorously develops strategic emerging industries and strives to build a modern industrial system that effectively supports the transformation. The Synthetic Biology Industry is one of the most promising high-tech industries in the 21st century. It is also an important strategic entry point for the province of Shanxi to promote the adjustment of its industrial structure and achieve the goal of carbon neutrality.

As an innovative company in the field of synthetic biology, Cathay plays an important role in making the whole industrial chain big and in driving the overall development of the industry. It is hoped that both sides will make joint efforts to promote the production operation and effectiveness achieved by the Shanxi Synthetic Biology Industrial Ecological Park. It is also hoped that upstream and downstream enterprises can further identify the entry point for project implementation, promote more projects to be implemented in Shanxi, and deeply participate in the encompassing promotion of high-quality development in Shanxi.

Liu Xiucai and other entrepreneurs thanked the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government for their support of the synthetic biology industry and the cooperation projects. They highly praised the good momentum of the comprehensive high-quality development in Shanxi Province and unanimously expressed that they would strengthen the layout of projects in Shanxi to realize mutual benefit, win-win, and common development through in-depth cooperation.

Shanxi is the important manufacturing base which has a unique advantage in the development of the synthetic biology industry for Cathay Biotech. Cathay will rely on the Shanxi Synthetic Biology Industrial Ecological Park, coordinate upstream and downstream resources, continuously increase the input of the investment and R&D, and make every effort to assist Shanxi to promote all-around high-quality development.

Leaders from other enterprises attended, including representatives from Taihua New Material, Taiyuan Yuhuang, the Jihua Group, Zhejiang Jinzili, Toyota Tsusho, the Shanxi Jinxiu Daxiang Agro-Livestock Co., Taishan Fiberglass Inc., Youwei New Materials, Foshan Nanhai Yile Engineering Plastics, Wanli (Chengdu) Perfumery, Xiamen Changsu, Zhonghao grain and oil, and others.
