Management
We have become a globally competitive industrial biotechnology company in a relatively short period of time due to our strong and experienced management team with proven track records in science and business. With a variety of research and development, business and academic backgrounds, our senior management team draws on the complementary skills and experience brought by each member to collectively achieve our business objectives.


Dr. Xiucai Liu

CEO

Prior to founding our company in 1997, Dr. Liu was the founder and chief executive officer of Unistone Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. From 1991 to 1994, he was a senior scientist of The Sandoz Research Institute. From 1989 to 1991, he was a postdoctoral researcher at both Yale and Columbia Universities. Dr. Liu received a Bachelor of Science degree in analytical chemistry from the Chinese University of Science and Technology in 1981, received a Master of Science degree in Soil Science from the Chinese Academy of Science in 1984 and received a Ph.D. degree in biochemistry from University of Wisconsin in 1989.

Prof. Qixian Zhang

Sr. VP—Consultant
for CEO

Prior to co-founding our company in 1997, Prof. Zhang was the chief engineer of Unistone Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. From September 1965 to August 1995, he was a session chief of the Institute of Microbiology, China Academy of Sciences. Prof. Zhang received a Bachelor of Science degree in fermentation technology from Wuxi Light Industry Institute in 1965. Prof. Zhang is also a member of the National Industrial Biotech Committee in the People's Republic of China.

Sam Dajani

COO

Mr. Dajani joined our company in February 2008. From 1998 to 2007, Mr. Dajani was the Vice President, General Manager at Videojet Technologies - Willett, responsible for the Asia Pacific region. In 1997, he was the General Manager at Kaneka Fine Chemicals based in Singapore. From 1987 to 1996, Mr. Dajani held a range of positions in the sales & marketing and business development areas in Pfizer’s specialty chemicals group in various locations including both the United States and Asia Pacific region. Mr. Dajani received a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry and Master of Science degree in Organic chemistry from Baylor University. He also attended Columbia School of Business Executive program focusing on Finance and Marketing in 1991.

Ms. Hui Huang

CFO

Ms. Huang joined our company in 2007. From 2003 to 2007, Ms. Huang was an executive director and Shanghai chief representative of Johnson Electric Capital Limited. From 2000 to 2003, she was an associate of Goldman Sachs ( Asia ) L.L.C. in its principal investment area and executive office. From 1994 to 1998, she was an associate consultant with The Boston Consulting Group. Ms. Huang received a Bachelor of Engineering degree in industrial foreign trade from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 1994, and received an MBA degree from The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania in 2000.

Edward Yin

VP – Edward Yin

Prior to joining our company in March 2008, Mr. Edward Yin was a Director at Solae (a DuPont-Bunge JV) China, responsible for China operations from 2007 to 2008. Prior to that, he was the General Manager at DuPont Zhengzhou Protein Ltd., Co. from 2004 to 2007. Mr. Yin had been with DuPont for 17 years starting in a broad range of functions including production, technical, quality assurance, sourcing, engineering and others. Mr. Yin received a Bachelor of Science degree of Chemical Engineering from Shanghai 2nd Industrial University and an EMBA degree from Nan Yang Business School in Singapore. In addition, he also studied civil law at Shanghai Social Science Institute for two years.

Mr. Paul J. Caswell

Exec VP—Special Projects

Mr. Caswell joined our company in 2000. From 1992 to 2000, Mr. Caswell was a vice president of new technology for the BioProducts Division of Archer Daniels Midland Company and was a general production manager from 1982 to 1992 in charge of corn processing facilities and the BioProducts production facility. From 1981 to 1982, he was a production manager of Clinton Corn Processing. From 1979 to 1981, he was a product manager of Pfizer Chemical Corporation. Mr. Caswell received a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Nebraska in 1970, and received an MBA degree from Indiana State University in 1979.

Mr. Bao Lü

Mr. Lü joined our company in 2000. He was a vice mine plant manager of Zibo Bureau of Longquan Mine Plant from 1990 to 2000 and was a vice general manager of Zibo Guangtong Chemical Limited Company from 1997 to 2000. Mr. Lü received an associate degree in economics from Zibo Bureau of Mine Vocational School in 1987.
